LONDON & MINI HAUL

london & mini haul

may month 014
MEDIA SOURCE: MY OWN

Being a countryside girl at heart, I’ll admit, living in such a rural area can be beyond boring at times! Forever lusting to live in a big city, London is more than the ideal escape every once in a while just to help put things into perspective. Not only do I love that It's so cosmopolitan, I still cant seem to come to terms with the buzz of the place and how not a minute is wasted there, taking a step back and people watching is something I cant help but do. Being beyond inspired by street style and adoring the narrow cobbed streets with ALL my favourite stores on their doorsteps, I was no way going to turn my mums offer down!

Finally, after getting the majority of my GCSE examinations out of the way, she proposed last minute we all deserved a day out (we being my parents and my grandparents).

Saturday started early at 6.30... and with absolutely no clue of what I was going to wear or what bag to take (as per usual)! We then caught the train at 9am and arrived at Kings Cross for 10.30 - I would definitely recommend pre-booking First Class as it is so much more roomy and Breakfast is included, perfect for if you're in a rush getting ready and you don't have time to eat beforehand. The day was spent mooching about, looking around ect as we didn't have much time to see much as the show was a matinee performance, however I did manage to pick up a few little treats for myself with the excuse 'for coping with my GCSE's'.

The Commitments was amazing; like most of the shows in London you can set your expectations high for them never to be let down! Afterwards we took a stroll to China Town and to a bite to eat and I finally got around to trying Bubble Tea from Chatime which was delicious!!

Here you can watch my London Vlog + Mini lookbook of some things which i purchased on my trip!

Thankyou for visiting my blog I really appreciate some of the lovely comments which I get on my posts and to know that people are actually reading the posts which I write! Hopefully I'll be writing another soon...

HAUL/REVIEW

woolly winter garment

december month

Tis the season! However, it is never quite Christmas in my household until my birthday has passed (that sounds so selfish oh dear), which happened to fall last week. For my sixteenth i received lots of lovely written cards and gorgeous bits and bobs from friends and family! As well as gift cards and getting a little bit extra pocket money, me being Harriet obviously decided to spend my money WISELY on some bits in preparation for the upcoming winter months...

Over the past few years I've found it really hard to find a coat that is subtle and minimal although has a slight edge. Something that isn't too bland but also doesn't have too much going on i guess is kind of the point I'm trying to make. In my eyes there's nothing worse than buying something just because there hasn't been anything other that's caught your eye in other words, you're just buying for the sake of buying... yes, it sounds completely ridiculous but it happens to me all the time and i can guarantee in 99% of these scenarios, i never even end up wearing or using the item anyway! I think this is why this coat from River Island stood out a mile from what other high street stores have in. I've been contemplating whether to jump on the Pretty In Pink bandwagon for these past few months, well ever since Cara D was featured in Vogue wearing Simone Rochas AW13 beautiful blushing pink coat, just looking
back through those few glossy pages i knew i could not resist the pink.
After trying on some of the fluffy/ bobbley textured ones in Topshop and
them becoming more and more popular, I suppose i lost interest in them.
 Due to me being
freakishly pale, the shade of pink completely washed me out and made me look
superhuman. That's one of the reasons i love this River Island light purple
boyfriend coat, I know what you're thinking, it isn't pink but i like to
think of it as putting my own little twist on the trend! I adore how over sized and loose fitting the coat feels on and not only does it look amazing, its 100% wool which in my books is amazing value for its reasonable price so I'm hoping its going to keep me super warm!

Have a very Merry Christmas!

HAUL/REVIEW

haul/review

october month

New clothes + good school grades + positive feedback = a happy Harriet!

SOURCE: MY OWN

For those who read my blog know I'm still at school currently working towards next years GCSE's  in June/July and even my English Language in November which is scarily almost less than a month away. With coursework piling up, keeping on top of it all is not challenging but also very draining when there is so many other things you would rather do. However, coursework does find itself at the top of my priority list so I often find myself under extreme pressure leaving me grumpy and stressed.

Due to all this weight on my shoulders, I think its important to treat myself for doing a little extra revision or keeping on top grades, yes, I could just go out and buy these clothes with my own money for the sake of a new wardrobe, although buying the clothes but for instead to treat myself, feels much more rewarding and it encourages me to try hard and keep working hard. I honestly have no idea if that makes sense but i swear deep in the cell of my brain there is a method to my madness.

These items in the photos underneath i purchased from Uniqlo and Zara. I first discovered Uniqlo at the beginning of the summer holidays after my grandma had come back from a shopping trip in London and she brought me back a few bits and pieces. One of those being the lime green blazer. I'd first pointed the blazer out in a magazine but after discovering it was out of stock online I kind of accepted the fact I probably wasn't going to get my hands on it. How wrong was I?! Now I utterly adore it! Such a statement piece and it looks great with the striped top underneath (Zara basics). I tend to wear it with Topshop's black Joni Jeans with either my docs or bucked boots, the colour is a really shocking bold limy shade so it adds a pop to an outfit and makes quite a simple, basic outfit look a bit more dressed up and interesting. I also think it would look great with a black below the knee strait skirt or with a suede accessory. Its a fantastic item to add to your wardrobe.

My most recent purchase is the textured, fluffy boyfriend coat  from Uniqlo. Just wow. I don't think I've ever been this obsessed and over the moon with a coat. I love textures and layering and I think A/W is the best time of the year to learn how to layer and create dimensions and shapes within outfits because its slightly chillier therefore you can really experiment more with these kind of pieces. Even if you aren't comfortable with layering such bold coloured clothing, just try it out with a fluffy cardigan over leather and denim. Textures are definitely a key trend this autumn winter so if you aren't sure id 100% recommend giving it a go! I really think this coat is going to look great with jeans, a denim pinafore, tartan, baby doll dresses and even layered over the top of my striped top, lime blazer with Joni's and Topshop boots... I cannot wait to try it out!

Another successful haul
